Barrington Tops is an easy drive north of Sydney accessible from the M1 motorway just north of Newcastle or alternatively take the Hunter Valley expressway to Scone. It reminds us of the Victorian High Country on a smaller scale and is high enough to receive snowfall, even in summer if conditions are cool enough. It has some good 4WDing and both good bush campsites and campsites besides the few rivers that run through it. Due to the good rainfall these rivers and creeks have plenty of water and flow freely, making for some great water holes if you are brave enough to jump in!
